Congratulations on your Regional win Rob, how does it feel?

It it difficult to explain. The relief was overwhelming. The sense of dread followed by the pride is mad. Probably the greatest thrill ride ever!

Tell us about your experience on the day. How do you feel the nerves compared from the 1st to the 3-hole play off?

The nerves kicked in on the 16th when it dawned on me that I could be in with a shout. The playoff was as calm as I have felt. It was strange how calm and serene I found it.

Have you played in any other regional Trilby Championships?

Yes, 8 I think!!

How did you cope with the cameras on the day?

Not a problem at all, apart from being caught 'flossing'!

Where is your trophy now?

Filled to the brim with sweets on the table.

Did you ever think, going into the day, that you would not only qualify for the International Grand Final but also be bringing home a Trilby Tour Regional Championship trophy?

I was hoping to qualify but I never thought that I could win.

Tell us about your background?

Born in Bristol and moved to Berkshire aged 4. Started playing golf aged 5 with my old fella who sadly passed away last year. I have worked for the same company for 25 years, working with learning disabled adults. I also had 2 kids aged 14 and 11.

What has been your greatest achievement so far?

My 2 kids and the sweet filled trophy!

Describe yourself in a sentence...

Kind hearted and genuine but can be impetuous. Oh, and I am always right!

How will you go about defending your Trilby Tour Championship title next year?

Same prep as this year. No golf for a couple weeks beforehand and a slow warm up with 3 pints!

What's your motto in life?

Keep the moral compass.

Who is your golf hero?

My old Fella

Any last words for William Hunt and the Trilby Tour Team?

Over the years I have seen this grow from humble beginnings to a well oiled and smoothly run tournament. I can't thank William enough for all his kind words and support, a true gent. Lastly Toby and Holly. Toby is a great organiser, kind and willing whenever he can to help. Holly has a great way of making people feel at ease. Flashing that smile first thing in the morning to last thing at night. The immense pride I have will never leave me . Great work guys and I'll see you next year!
