Congratulations on your Regional win Richard, how does it feel?

I am proud to have won such a prestigious competition.

Tell us about your experience on the day. How do you feel the nerves compared from the 1st to the 3-hole play off?

1st tee nerves are always the worst for me, from monthly medals to club match play competitions. The Trilby Tour just multiplies them tenfold. After coming straight off the 18th to the shootout I was relatively calm with no time to think about it. Then the shakes and disbelief hit me again on the 1st tee shot of the playoff. I had to put some positive thoughts together to make it through the 3 playoff holes and put off the fact that there was people and cameras watching.

Have you played in any other regional Trilby Championships?

2016 Championship of Norfolk at Sprowston Manor and 2017 Championship of Worcestershire at Gaudet Luce.

How did you cope with the cameras on the day?

Not brilliant, it's a frightening experience. The thought of "don't mess it up now" hits home and then the swing tempo becomes quick leading to a poor shot. It's difficult to phase them out.

Where is your trophy now?

On a sideboard in the living room for friends and family to see.

Did you ever think, going into the day, that you would not only qualify for the International Grand Final but also be bringing home a Trilby Tour Regional Championship trophy?

My aim was to make the top 10. With 3 holes to play I realised I had a chance of making the final 4 so I dug deep, found some form and holed a short but difficult putt on the last to make the shootout. I had my doubts down the 1st playoff hole but thought "I'm as good as my 3 opponents so let's do it".

Tell us about your background?

I've had a love for the game since I was a teenager. I settled down in my early 20's to have a family and as a result I stopped playing golf as I couldn't find the time. Now my children are a bit older I've come back to the game and enjoy more than ever.

How did you find the clothing?

It's great to have fashionable clothes that can be worn both on and off the golf course. Nice athletic fit to the clothing.

What has been your greatest achievement so far?

Apart from my fantastic wife and children it has got to be becoming the 2017 Champion of Oxfordshire.

Describe yourself in a sentence...

Tall dark and handsome LOL. No seriously a hard working family guy who enjoys each day as it comes.

How will you go about defending your Trilby Tour Championship title next year?

Winning has been a big self confidence boost to my game. I need to doubt my golfing abilities less and realise I can win big competitions.

What's your motto in life?

"Do not dwell on the past, dream of the future, concentrate the mind on the present moment." Buddha

Any last words for William Hunt and the Trilby Tour Team?

So happy to be a part of it, Trilby's off to all the fantastic staff creating such a well organised event.
