Congratulations on your Regional win Paul, how does it feel?

Words cannot describe how I feel! Never expected to win. The idea was to compete but mostly to enjoy the whole experience and not end up on Rogues Gallery, I can't stop smiling!

Tell us about your experience on the day. How do you feel the nerves compared from the 1st to the 3-hole play off?

I was very nervous on the first tee to say the least. The feeling of relief to see my ball head towards the green was immeasurable! I don't know what happened in the playoff, I was in the 'zone' I think because I felt quite calm. What a pleasant surprise that was, it was either that or I was paralysed with fear!

Have you played in any other regional Trilby Championships?

No, this was my first one, and it most certainly won't be my last.

How did you cope with the cameras on the day?

To be honest, I only noticed them on two occasions, the 9th and 16th. But on both occasions, less than positive thoughts entered my head!

Where is your trophy now?

It is on my favourite piece of furniture, my bookcase. You see it as soon as you walk into the room.

Did you ever think, going into the day, that you would not only qualify for the International Grand Final but also be bringing home a Trilby Tour Regional Championship trophy?

Never! I knew I could post a score I would be happy with but I was aiming for a top 10 and qualify for the final. To win it was totally unexpected.

Tell us about your background?

I live with my partner of 9 years, Samantha, and two of her sons. I have a daughter of my own who now lives in London with her partner. We also have a grandson who keeps us very entertained. I work for a large window blind company and have a very close, happy family.

How did you find the clothing?

The clothing fitted well, I had to go for a size bigger than I would normally wear which caused some amusement to Samantha!

What has been your greatest achievement so far?

In golfing terms, the Trilby, no doubt! In life, it has to be having a daughter who is an absolute gem. She couldn't have grown up into a better person.

Describe yourself in a sentence...

Hard working, conscientious, happy and friendly!

How will you go about defending your Trilby Tour Championship title next year?

I will do the same as this year, practice rounds and make sure I have the best caddy on the bag again.

What's your motto in life?

Be happy and never give in.

Who is your golf hero?

Seve Ballesteros

Any last words for William Hunt and the Trilby Tour Team?

I would like to say a massive thank you for putting together this unbelievable tournament. There won't be anyone who has been involved in it in any capacity that will not have enjoyed it. Nerve-wracking, competitive and at times humorous. Everyone involved in your team has been nothing short of stunning in their professional, friendly approach. Long may it reign! Keep up the good work and keep making us amateur golfers feel like superstars for a day!
