Congratulations on your Regional win Craig, how does it feel?

It feels fantastic and all the more sweeter with me being a Trilby Tour virgin. I had no expectations of winning as my golf had been taking a bad turn and I had been struggling to get around my home course.

Tell us about your experience on the day. How do you feel the nerves compared from the 1st tee and then playing the 3-hole play off?

The nerves weren't too bad as I was not expecting anything good from the days golf. The nerves that were there were soon gone when I smashed my first tee shot spiking the fairway.

The playoff is a totally different story! I barely could stomach my dinner on the nervous wait to see if I had made the playoff. What I did eat came back up on the way to the tee. I don't think the cameras were rolling then so that's a plus!

I had a nervy first hole bogey but even a shot behind on the second playoff tee I just had that feeling I was going to win, whatever it took I was going to win.

Have you played in any other Trilby Tour Regional Championships?

No, this was my first Trilby Tour event. I just entered it for the crack and to feel like a pro for the day... It certainly did not disappoint!

How did you cope with the cameras on the day?

On the course I was fine. I performed my best on camera hitting some great shots in the first 18. When doing interviews I was bricking it in all honesty, but I guess that's the whole "pro for a day feeling" and deep down I found it fantastic.

Where is your trophy now?

Next to me in bed (the fiancée has been on the sofa for 4 months!)

Did you ever think you would get this far?

Not at all, my aim for the day was to somehow find a score of 34 hoping to scrape into the top 10 and get to the Grand Final.

I had no idea how tough the course would be playing, making 35 a respectable top of the leaderboard.

Two things that made that possible on the day I was far from my best was hitting 14 fairways out of 14 with my driver and a caddy with so much knowledge of golf and reading the very tough greens.

Tell us about your background?

I grew up in a small village with my mam, dad, sister and was surrounded by lots of family and friends.

Golf and football were a big part of my upbringing. Golf was loved by a big chunk of the family; my dad, two uncles and grandad once had a combined handicap of less than 10. My uncle also being a club pro for a few years.

Sadly my Grandad passed away last year. I would have loved him to be able to watch me winning this on Sky Sports. But something that made up for that was my Grandma, an amazing woman who followed her 3 sons and husband around the country playing golf. She was the first person I rang and her reaction was priceless and something that I will never forget.

I have worked on the railway since leaving school which also runs in the family.

I now live with my fiancée Megan and twins, Lily-Mae and Charlie who are my life.

What has been your greatest achievement so far?

My kids 100% are my biggest achievement. They are fantastic and I could not be prouder.

On the golf course, I won the net trophy for the gents club championship as a junior after having the best year sweeping up the junior events getting my handicap down from 32 to 12.

Describe yourself in a sentence...

James Corden and Shane Lowery's love child with a case of the shanks!

How will you go about defending your Trilby Tour Championship title next year?

If my golf gets back to its best I believe I can set a high target next year with around 39/40 points around Hollins Hall. I want to lead from top and smash the play off and win by a couple. We can all dream haha

What's your motto in life?

Who is your golf hero?

Gary Player and Jason Day for similar reasons of their background, where they were brought up and how hard they worked to be the best. In my eyes Gary Player at his best was unbeatable. If he had the equipment we do now and was in his prime I think he would still be one of the top players.

Any last words for William Hunt and the Trilby Tour Team?

A massive thank you to William for making this concept of amateur golf possible and making us feel like the pros. Thanks to the Trilby team and the workers and Marriott Hollins Hall for making it possible to play the event after terrible weather on the run up to the event.

Last but not least to my friend, brother and fantastic caddy, Dan, who made winning possible with his knowledge and experience of being caddy and golfer at a very high standard. I would not have been able to win without him.
