Congratulations on your Regional win David!

Thanks, it was an amazing day for all the family!

What made you choose your venue?

I live in Chichester and Meon Valley is the closest regional Championship to me.

Tell us about your experience on the day. How did you feel you played?

I thought I played OK considering the awful conditions! It was very windy (40 mph) and raining first thing in the morning, I had a 7.30 tee time!

I have a low ball flight anyway. I’m probably better suited to these kind of conditions.

Have you played in many other Trilby Championships?

Never Before

How did you cope with the cameras on the day?

They didn’t bother me at all during the round. I was more conscious of them during the play off, as you had two guys following you around filming everything, so hard to ignore them.

I just kept telling myself ‘this is what I play golf for…’ To challenge in top quality events. And keep calm!

Where is your trophy now?

In the lounge. Pride of place.

Did you ever think you would get this far?

My ambition on the day was to get into the top ten and make the final! Making the top 4 was nothing I expected at all

Tell us about your background?

I played professional football at Crystal Palace in my teens.  I then had a semi-professional career until my 30's. I now run my own business in the motor trade.

I have a wonderful wife Nicola of 25 years, 3 kids who are grown up now and 3 grandchildren. I’m looking forward to my eldest son, and Trilby, caddie getting married next year.

How did you find the clothing?

Loved it! Although I will log on earlier next time around, as the options go quickly if you are late.

What has been your greatest achievement so far?

In Golf? I have won the Club Championship twice at Goodwood 2013 and 2015. They are some of the highlights. Then obviously winning the regional final at Meon Valley.

Winning the regional final was the most pressure I have been under playing golf and still managed to keep my game together so hard to pick a best achievement as both mean a lot to me.

Describe yourself in a sentence...

Confident, easy to get on with, family man, sport lover and tend to be able to play most sports to a degree of competence. I love cars.

How will you go about defending your Trilby Tour Championship title next year?

Looking forward to it for sure… I will practice obviously but focus mainly on keeping aggressive and positive as any other mode doesn’t really work.

What's your motto in life?

Enjoy life especially with the family. Work hard and play harder!

Who is your golf hero?

Tough one… Probably Sev.  He really brought the game up as a spectacle in the 80's and made it exciting whereas before it was considered an old man's sport.

Any last words for William Hunt?

Great guy! He takes the time to talk to you and get to know you. You can see he loves golf and I think he gets a lot from the whole event. He’s great front man for the event. I’m  looking forward to seeing him again.

He took the time to talk to my family at the regional and final which creates a real welcome factor. All my family got a lot from the tour.
