Congratulations on your Regional win Richard, how does it feel?

It feels absolutely amazing, definitely the best golfing experience of my life and we still have The Grand Final to come! I still think it has all been a dream and that I am going to wake up disappointed.

Tell us about your experience on the day. How do you feel the nerves compared from the 1st to the 3-hole play off?

I couldn't believe how nervous I was stood on the first tee. The starter was doing a good job of winding up the atmosphere with the microphone, so by the time I was ready to play my legs were like jelly! By comparison I was quite calm for the play off mainly because I'd had a couple of beers just to chill me out.

Have you played in any other Trilby Tour Regional Championships?

None, this was my first but definitely not my last.

How did you cope with the cameras on the day?

Ok I think. I tried to forget they were there but then they turn your way and you think just one good shot and hope you don't end up in the Rogues Gallery!

Where is your trophy now?

It's sitting proudly in my office at home with a replica score card from Breadsall.

Did you ever think, going into the day, that you would not only qualify for the International Grand Final but also be bringing home a Trilby Tour Regional Championship trophy?

No. My aim was to try and get in the top 10 and qualify for the Grand Final so to come back home as Regional Champion was awesome. Special thanks have to go to my playing partners, Sean Lucey, Ian Lawson and Team Tricky for all their support.

Tell us about your background?

I was born and brought up in Burton on Trent and started playing golf at Branston when I was 13. I'm married to Amanda and have a son called Harry. I started work as a trainee roofer (tiling and slating) but since then have branched out to take on other forms of building work such as kitchens and bathrooms. I am self employed so this allows me to have days out like this and play golf which is my passion.

How did you find the clothing?

The clothing fits very well and you can tell it is very good quality.

What has been your greatest achievement so far?

I've had the privilege of taking part in and winning quite a few competitions throughout my golfing career but this tops everything!

Describe yourself in a sentence...

I like to think I am an easy going guy who gets on with most people and always gives 100% at everything I try to achieve.

How will you go about defending your Trilby Tour Championship title next year?

With the same attitude as this year. Hopefully play well, swing easy but most of all enjoy it.

What's your motto in life?

Enjoy life, always do you best no matter what that may be and do it with a smile!

Who is your golf hero?

My golf hero is Seve Ballesteros, I just loved the way he playedd and his attitude towards the game.

Any last words for William Hunt and the Trilby Tour Team?

Many thanks to William Hunt and the Trilby Tour Team for organising and sponsoring such a great series of Championships and long may it continue.
