“Absolutely buzzing, it was fantastic. What a way to birdie the last in front of all of the members, friends and family. It doesn't get any better than this! ”

"The Trilby Tour is about re-defining the game of golf and taking it to new heights... and lows. We are the bungee jump of golf... without the safety checks. It's about constantly challenging yourself and becoming greater or worse than you ever thought you could be.
People don't think about golf as an extreme sport but that is precisely what the Trilby Tour is – taking the game and pushing each and every player to their limit.
The Trilby Tour is the only event that offers amateur golfers a truly professional experience. There are no half-measures - the pressure is relentless and it's Winner takes all.
In front of the crowds and cameras there is no place to hide. I can guarantee it will be a day to remember for the rest of your life. Each year we raise the bar of excitement in the amateur golf game. We are looking for excellence from the players but we often see the opposite.
Though the Trilby Tour has grown bigger and bigger each year the ethos remains the same as the day we started: to redefine the game of golf and push players to their limits (upper and lower), we are amateurs after all!"

Ben, congratulations on becoming the 2017 Trilby Tour International Grand Final Champion, how does it feel?

It feels amazing, I still can't believe it! It was a fantastic day with huge support from the members, it is a day I will never forget.

What first made you enter the Trilby Tour?

My Dad, Mark, played in a couple and I saw how good the event was and thought that I would love to have a go.

What made you choose your regional event venue?

At first I went to Kirkbymoorside Golf Club for the Championship of Yorkshire as that was the closest for me but unfortunately missed out by a couple of shots. I was lucky enough to get in last minute for the Championship of Oxfordshire which is where I qualified for the Grand Final.

Tell us about the day of the final. How did you feel you played?

I felt good. I had been playing well leading up to the event so was confident but you never know with golf so I still had a few nerves.

Have you played in many other Amateur Championships?

Yes, I managed to qualify for English Amateur last year at Ganton which was a great experience although I didn't play great. I also went on to Open Qualifying this year and did OK but it didn't quite happen.

How did you cope with the cameras on the day?

Yes fine, I've played in quite a few now so I quite like it!

What does winning the 2017 Trilby Tour, on home soil, in front of all of your family and friends, mean to you?

It doesn't get any better, to win the event is amazing but to have all the support there made it really special. As an amateur most of your family will never see you play so to have them there and get the win is awesome.

Where is the trophy now?

It's in the golf club trophy cabinet. Everyone at the club put a lot of hard work into the event and have done for the past 3 years so it's great to keep it there.

What are your thoughts for next season, are you confident on defending your title?

I feel the pressure is off now so I can just go and enjoy the events.

Tell us about your backgroud...

I have a young family with a beautiful wife, day to day I work at a golf driving range running a golf shop, footgolf course and a crazy golf. I'm also a Leeds United season ticket holder, so hoping for promotion this year!

How did you find the clothing?

Yes really good, I think over the past years it's really come on.

What has been your greatest sporting achievement?

Winning Trilby on home soil for definite!

Describe yourself in a sentence.

Very competitive and driven to succeed, but always up for a laugh!

Who is your golf hero?

Tiger, as I was growing up and getting into golf he was winning everything. His all round game was off the charts but now looking back his mental strength was incredible.

Any last words for William Hunt and the Trilby Tour Team?

Thank you, you've given me a day I will never forget! The organisation in all the events is first class, it's a pleasure to play in the events. William and the team are all top guys who do an incredible job. There isn't another tournament like it for Amateurs. Thank you once again.

Congratulations again, to our 2017 William Hunt Trilby Tour International Grand Final Champion, Ben Rozenbroek!
