“Absolutely buzzing, it was fantastic. What a way to birdie the last in front of all of the members, friends and family. It doesn't get any better than this! ”

"The Trilby Tour is about re-defining the game of golf and taking it to new heights... and lows. We are the bungee jump of golf... without the safety checks. It's about constantly challenging yourself and becoming greater or worse than you ever thought you could be.
People don't think about golf as an extreme sport but that is precisely what the Trilby Tour is – taking the game and pushing each and every player to their limit.
The Trilby Tour is the only event that offers amateur golfers a truly professional experience. There are no half-measures - the pressure is relentless and it's Winner takes all.
In front of the crowds and cameras there is no place to hide. I can guarantee it will be a day to remember for the rest of your life. Each year we raise the bar of excitement in the amateur golf game. We are looking for excellence from the players but we often see the opposite.
Though the Trilby Tour has grown bigger and bigger each year the ethos remains the same as the day we started: to redefine the game of golf and push players to their limits (upper and lower), we are amateurs after all!"

Jack Marron

"I may continue to wear my Trilby to see if it brings me anymore luck!"

Age: 23
Occupation: PhD Researcher
Handicap: 2
Home Club: Marriott Breadsall Priory
Score: 38
Golf hero: Jordan Spieth

Congratulations on your Regional win Jack, how does it feel?

Unbelievable, knowing I had to come back from 2 shots behind to win made it feel even more special.

Tell us about your experience on the day. How do you feel the nerves compared from the 1st to the 3-hole play off?

I really enjoyed it! I was a little nervous on the first tee, but I holed a 15 footer for par on the second which settled me right down and felt very comfortable throughout the rest of the round. I was quite nervous on the first putt I had on the first playoff hole and missed it but I didn't want to let that worry me so I just had to move on.

Have you played in any other regional Trilby Championships?

No this is my first Championship, I've played in the PCQ's over the years at Worsley Park and Breadsall Priory but never made it through.

How did you cope with the cameras on the day?

They didn't bother me whatsoever, I felt confident that if I stick to my routine, swing through and then commit to the shot that not a lot could go wrong. Which thankfully it didn't! If anything I kind of relish the added pressure from the cameras as it kept me focussed on what I had to do.

Where is your trophy now?

Currently it is sat next to the club Championship trophy which I won last year at Breadsall Priory.

Did you ever think, going into the day, that you would not only qualify for the International Grand Final but also be bringing home a Trilby Tour Regional Championship trophy?

At the start of the day the goal really was to go for 32/33 points as the wind was a huge factor making the condition tough, I though that would comfortably make Top 10. I had 21 points at the turn, 2 under gross, and my Dad said to me "oh do you want to take a picture of the leader board as you are top", I replied "no, I'll take one at the end when I've got 40." At that point I knew if I carried on playing the way I was, I was going to win he strokeplay.

Tell us about your background?

I am currently in my first year of a chemistry PhD at Manchester Metropolitan University, after doing my undergrad at Manchester in Chemistry. I'd say I've always been determined in what I do and perform that to the best of my abilities, this has benifited me in both my studies and my golf. Over the last year is where I've really seen my game come on, certainly after winning the club Championship where I was +6 after 9. The back 9 I was -4 which at that point made me realise I am good enough to play at a high standard and gave me the confidence for the final round. Playing under that kind of pressure after leading the first round absolutely helped me in the playoff to withstand the pressure of the cameras and the other players.

How did you find the clothing?

I'm not going to lie, I thought I would really struggle playing with a Trilby on! It fit very snug though and didn't blow off during the day, I may even try it on a weekend competition to see if it brings anymore luck!

What has been your greatest achievement so far?

In general it would be graduating with a 1st class masters degree in chemisty, but golfing wise it would easily be this. Coming out on top out of 144 players is such an achievement.

Describe yourself in a sentence...

A normal 23 year old who enjoys spending time with their family and dogs.

What's your motto in life?

I believe the harder I work now, the more rewards will come my way later on in life.

Who is your golf hero?

Jordan Spieth; putting used to be one of my weak points but ever since I swapped to the left below right grip style it's now one of my strong points. Even tried the looking at the hole from 3 foot whilst putting and it works!

Any last words for William Hunt and the Trilby Tour Team?

Fantastic day and I'm very much looking forward 2018!
